Creations by Jackie

This week for our Small Business Feature we are featuring Creations by Jackie.

Jackie lives in New Jersey with her husband and two kids (boy and girl). After becoming a stay-at-home mom, her husband encouraged her to try some new hobbies or find something that she would enjoy doing with her spare time. After his suggestion of crocheting she and her grandmother went out shopping one day for crocheting materials and after a quick lesson she was on her way. Not only does she follow patterns, but many times people will send her pictures and she recreate the item to near perfection without a pattern.  I don't think it is a stretch to call her a self-taught master, mostly because she also makes blankets, scarfs, fingerless gloves, hats, stuffed animals, infinity scarfs (cowls), baby booties, slippers, headbands, character hats, etc. She recently started making tutus, and will be adding more to her inventory soon.

Let me just say this first--I know good crocheting when I see it, mostly because I know bad crocheting when I see it (like anything I've ever attempted). So when I received the headbands and beanie I could tell right away that they were really well done! There were no loose yarns, it was crocheted with perfect tension (not too loose/tight), and everything fit perfectly! Crocheting custom pieces for someone you've never me can be a challenge but Jackie did a beautiful job. The butterfly bow is detachable and can be put on any headband (such a plus) and I love the simple elegance of the pearls on the purple bow, it makes it nice to dress up and dress down. And even though the Denver Broncos played the worst Superbowl in history, we still went with their colors...true fandom.

If you live in the area, she will be at a craft fair in Millville, NJ in April. To find Creations by Jackie online you can visit her Etsy shop here, Instagram (@creations_by_jackie) page here, and Facebook page here.
