S'mores 3 ways

S'mores three ways? You better believe it! One of the best things about s'mores is sitting around the campfire and roasting them. Unfortunately for us we will not be camping or having bonfires this summer. Sad, I know.  To make sure that my kids still get their summer s'mores I decided to bring them indoors! Because I believe in s'mores and I believe in safety, s'mores the first way is indoor s'mores. And what party wouldn't rock with a plate of s'mores? That brings us to s'mores the second way: frozen and taken to-go! Lastly, as adults we know that while classic Hershey chocolate is delicious there are sometimes other (better) alternatives to plain milk chocolate, can you say candy bar minis?! Our third s'more is an upgraded s'more that will be sure to please.

Indoor S'mores

Items needed
Marshmallows
Graham crackers
Chocolate
Cookie sheet
Preheat oven's broiler on high

Break your graham crackers in half so that they are squares. Lay them out on your cookie sheet with at least an inch in between each cracker. Place a piece of chocolate and a marshmallow on top.

Put your cookie sheet in the oven on the middle rack and watch the tops of the marshmallows brown, it takes approximately 5 minutes but ovens will vary so watch it, watch it, watch it! Once the tops are browned to your desired color pull out the cookie sheet and place a graham cracker on top of each marshmallow. Let them cool for a minute and serve.

S'mores to go

Additional materials needed
Foil or plastic wrap
Plastic baggies

After your s'mores cool down, place them in the freezer for at least an hour. Once they are frozen, you can individually wrap them then stick them all in your plastic bag. You will see in the picture that I did not individually wrap them...if your trip is short you don't need to, but once they thaw they will become sticky again.

Upgraded S'mores

Additional items needed
Mini chocolates, such as:

  • Hershey minis (Mr. Goodbar, Krackle, Special Dark)
  • Herhey's Kisses (any flavor)
  • Mars miniatures (Snickers, Milky Way, 3 Musketeers)
  • Cadbury chocolate
  • Reese's Peanut Butter Cups

Substitute any of these for your regular Hershey's chocolate when you're making your s'mores. The minis will melt best in an oven versus at a campsite. This pictures is of Hershey's Hugs, my favorite.
