AO Photography

This week's small business feature is on AO Photography.

AO Photography is owned by Amberly who is originally from Idaho and has been living in Utah for the past 10 years.  She has always loved art and her favorite classes in school were her art classes, drawing, painting, pottery, etc.  "The only problem was that even though I enjoyed them, I was never really that great at any of them."  It wasn't until she got engaged and started looking for a wedding photographer that she really considered the idea of doing photography.  After learning more about it and researching through photography blogs, she knew she wanted to capture such wonderful and special moments of people's lives.  They could be the big memorable moments like getting married, graduating, having a baby, or a birthday party, but even the everyday moments that are so easily forgotten.

Amberly bought her first dslr camera when she was pregnant with her first baby and editing software shortly after that.  She is currently working on something called 'The 365 Day Project' in which she has challenged herself to take at least one picture everyday for a year.  And not just any picture, but a picture that makes her use her creativity, whether that means a lot of props or set up or maybe just something taken from a unique angle. "Pretty much anywhere I go now you will see me with my 2 year old son, my baby daughter, a big diaper bag and my camera.  It has become one of my essentials."

Amberly is such an incredible person with many talents. I know this because we used to be neighbors and roommates. I have had the privilege to have her do a shoot with my daughter a few times and my son once. We haven't lived near each other for a while so when I needed a product shoot done I was unsure of who to reach out to since I like to be present for shoots. I get solicitation offers from social media on a regular basis for photography services but once I decided it was time to send out my product I knew that she could do a better job than any stranger in NY.
