DIY Cardstock (Easter) Banner

You may have seen the Easter banner from our feature of Paperie Haven, but I wanted to save some of the pictures and tutorial for its own post so as to not take away from their feature.

This is a super easy banner to make and is a cute addition to your Easter festivities (or really, any other event you want to use it for).

Supplies
1 12 x 12 piece of colored/printed cardstock
1 11 x 8 1/2 piece of plain cardstock
Glue
Ribbon
Tape
Scissors
Writing utensil

First, cut your 12x12 paper into sixths as seen in the diagram. Each should measure 6x4". If you want it to have the tails, measure one inch from the middle, and cut a triangle out (shown in diagram as the red line).

Second, cut your 8 1/2x11 into sixths as seen in diagram, leaving you with 6 4 1/4x 3 2/3". Trim as needed so that it centers well on the colored cardstock. All these weird fractions sound confusing, but it isn't, I promise. Just follow the diagram :)

Use your writing utensil to put a letter on each solid rectangle. "EASTER" worked out perfectly since it has six letters and the paper was cut into sixths. If you want to do a different word, like "birthday" or a name, cut more paper as needed.

Glue the Letters onto the colored/printed cardstock.

Lay out your letters with how you would like them to be spaced. Measure and cut your ribbon to fit accordingly, leaving some extra at the ends to create a loop.

Tape your ribbon (or staple or sew--other cool alternatives) to the back of your letters. Tie a loop at the end of each ribbon and hang with thumb tacks.

Voila!
