My son is at that age where he loves to stack everything! He plays with blocks all the time, and we have a stacking cup set for the bath. My feeling on bath toys is that they should stay in the bath. So, I decided to start collecting containers after seeing a similar activity on Pinterest -- it was for older toddlers, i.e. matching small lids like toothpaste, travel shampoo, etc and I went ahead and adapted it for my younger toddler who could choke on small items. He absolutely LOVES to play with these and I store them in a reusable bag so that they have a home. Not very often do you find an activity that will keep your child occupied for an extended period of time, but I'm telling you that this is one of them!
Below is a sample of some of the things I collected, but there is also a spice container, peanut butter jar, vitamin container, tupperware and the unlabeled items are chocolate milk mix, french fried onions, frosting, and yogurt. It makes for better sorting and stacking if you can find varying sizes, shapes, and colors.
Just a couple of tips: use containers that are a medium to hard plastic. I tried a to-go container and it broke and was sharp. Also make sure that all lids are large enough to not be a choking hazard.
