Music Props

My kids love music. Starting at eighteen months they are old enough to go to nursery at our church and every week they have music time during nursery. Our nursery leaders are fantastic and my kids love the "music lady." To keep their focus she brings in various props to engage the children while they sing. I thought it was such a neat idea that I decided to make some music props for home!

Materials Needed
Popsicle sticks
Felt
Glue
Scissors
Pipe cleaners

This is our "Itsy Bitsy Spider" set. More prop ideas at the bottom. You can improvise as needed with any of the materials and if you can whip them up while your kids are asleep feel free to use hot glue instead of liquid glue.

For the sun
Cut out 3 circles--2 yellow and 1 orange. The orange should be 1/4" larger all the way around.
Use your scissors to cut out little triangles from the orange circle, creating sun rays.

Glue one of the yellow circles onto the front of the orange circle, then turn it over.
On the backside of the orange felt, glue on your popsicle stick approximately 1 inch of the stick on the felt.

With the second yellow circle cover one side with glue and stick in on top of the popsicle stick.

Let it dry, it should only take a few minutes.

For the spider
Cut out a spider body. Mine is an 8 shape. Then cut out a matching circle to fit on the back (not pictured) and cut out eight 1" sections of pipe cleaner.

Glue your popsicle stick to the spider body.
Glue on your eight legs, then put glue on top of the stick and legs.

Put your matching circle on top of the glue.

LET IT DRY ALL THE WAY THROUGH. This will take a while...

Additional ideas:
Stars for "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star"
Animals for "Old MacDonald" or "Down by the Bay"
Wheels and people for "The Wheels on the Bus"
